September 6 Minutes

Constitution:
  • Voting procedures:

    • Any motion needs majority vote, which means 50% + one

    • Proxy vote

      • if you can’t attend election, send someone to vote for you

      • BUT you need to get permission from Ben/ Jasneet

      • Be sure to provide name and contact information of the person serving as proxy



    • Any IRC residents can vote for a designated period of time by a 2/3 vote of the board




General Rules

  • Robert’s Rules:

    • I motion to vote…..someone else I second the motion to vote…

    • Motion to move “topic” to the next meeting



  • Speaker’s List

    • Tyler will call on you based on who raise their hands first

    • Just a procedure to have order during discussions




Upcoming RCG Program

  • We’re not voting for events till next week

  • Some ideas brought up by the Programming board:

    • Field day/bbq:

      • Restricted to IRC, Apartment, MAYBE with A&H

      • Hold at the lawn in front of A&H

      • Floor to floor competition

      • Bouncy castle



    • Highlighter party

      • Bring white t-shirt and highlighters

      • And draw on your shirt in a dark room

      • Aka graffiti party



    • Scavenger hunt



  • More info and ideas coming up next meeting


Budget

  • Fall semester $2000

  • Spring semester $2000

  • However, we have a total of $5000; we’ll have a little extra to spend in Spring

  • We allocate money to:

    • RCG programming funds & committee programs—

      • The Board voted to allocate 40% about $800 to this sector



    • RA; individual programs; faculty initiatives

      • We will allocate 40% about $800 to this sector as well

      • These people need money to fund activities in the interest of our building



    • RCG development funds

      • We get 20% about $400 of the budget

      • We need money for our retreats!!!

        • We’re going to have two retreats; one now and one in Spring








Ben’s “Ish”

  • Park your bikes in proper places because they are fire hazards if they are scattered around. They WILL be tolled away if they aren’t parked properly


Committee Preferences (you should already submit your committee preferences during meeting, if not email me or Jasneet)

  • Community Outreach

    • Host activities like: clean the beach

    • Basically do something for the community



  • Social

    • Host fun events; purpose is to have FUN and hang out with people



  • Cultural Intellectual Academic

    • Go to museums or have alumni speakers, for example
